Goals for 2015!

resolutions

Two weeks into the new year, it’s time to wish you all a very happy new year! 2014 was an amazing year for us, and we are super excited to see what 2015 has to offer! Let’s talk resolutions …

Han:

Live healthy. After six years of studying and excuses like ‘no time or money’, it’s time for me to invest in creating a healthy way of  living. Over the last few years I became a lazy couch potato , even though I loved working out before. I never seemed to persevere longer than a few weeks. This year I want to improve my physical fitness. I want to be able to run 5 or 10 kilometers, because right now I feel like throwing up after 2 kilometers. As a part of this commitment I also want to become more conscious about what products I fuel my body with. I want to eat more healthy raw products with less sugar and unhealthy fats. Finally I decided to quit drinking alcohol. I already was someone who rarely drank alcohol, so this commitment isn’t that hard for me, it’s just something that I want to do for myself. I feel proud to say: “I don’t drink”.

Live life. Each year I make the resolution to live life to the fullest. This for me is a reminder to think positive and enjoy the little things in live every day. A few years ago I decided to fight the negative thoughts and always look for the positive. The negative things in life are not worth the energy or time. This because I think that the more time you give negativity, the more it will be present in your daily life. There will always be situations where it’s hard to see something positive but always remember: every day may not be good, but there’s something good in every day.

Be more creative. In this world full of technology I tend to get shallow-brained and lazy. I spent way to many hours watching series, scrolling through facebook and sitting on my lazy ass. This year I would like to spend more time getting creative. This can be by reading books where your imagination can do it’s own work, doing crafts, writing stories, taking pictures etc. I want to limit the technology time and just do oldskool fun things more often.

Resolutions 2015

Sandy:

It’s time to confess… I never had any new year’s resolutions! Personally, I believe you should be able to change your life at any moment, no matter what time of the year it is. Whether it’s January, May or even December. Also, I probably wouldn’t keep them…

But looking at Han’s list, I have to admit I’m a little jealous. I wish I could make these resolutions at the beginning of the year and stick to them. Although I have to say that I can already cross some of them off my list. I went on vacation alone to the US in September, I started eating more healthy in October, by starting the day with a vitamin rich breakfast (bye bye Nutella); I started crafting again in November (hello knitting needles); I took loads of pictures last year, and in January I started working out!

So actually, I kind of have resolutions too in a way, but they’re just spread over the year ;) This could be a good tip for those of you who are struggling with that endless list of resolutions. Just spread them over the whole year, and have a new challenge every month!

Let’s make it a memorable year!

Make up workshop with Couleur Caramel

Make up workshop with Couleur Caramel!

In December, we treated ourselves to a make up workshop at our beauty salon Sublime. A new make up line got introduced, and we were dying to try it out! Especially because the brand uses ecofriendly ingredients to produce their make up. Even the packaging is made of recycled materials. Since we only want the best for our delicate skin, we were curious whether this brand really does the job.

We each got personal make up tips that suited our look and style. And we were both extremely happy with the result. The mineral foundation felt like satin, and the vivid eyeshadow colors were very pigmented. Overall, we love the brand and would definitely recommend it to you all!

OOTD: Cosy comfort

Brace yourselves winter is coming!

Winter is right around the corner so it’s the perfect time to invest in scarfs and beanies. It’s the time of the year to get cosy and comfortable, not only on the couch but also when you want to leave the house. I love classic black, grey and white items in my closet. I’m addicted, easy to combine and always classy.

Here I am wearing my favorite black skinny jeans. They are so comfortable and figure hugging at the same time! I combined it with my favorite grey and silver knitted top from Vila and a printed scarf. A very easy combination, but still interesting with the different materials and prints! To go outside I put on a beanie and a warm coat to protect me during the cold wintery days. The black boots I’m wearing are the most comfortable shoes I ever owned and they can be combined endlessly.

I absolutely love this outfit, because it is just so freaking cosy and comfortable!

Weekly snaps!

This is what we’ve been up to last week….

Han

Cosy wintery evenings. Last week I went to Leuven for a nice dinner with a friend. We went to one of my favorite restaurants, “De Wiering”. I studied in Leuven for 6 years, and when you live in a city you sometimes don’t see how beautiful it actually is. Just look at Leuven’s town hall, it’s a fairytale building right? After catching up with my friend I ended my night with a cup of tea in front of the fireplace!

Baby it’s cold outside! Last week was the moment where winter finally arrived in Belgium. I love going outside with the frosty crispy grass underneath my feet, a perfect way to clear your head.

Just do it! I have to admit it has taken me a while to be stronger than my excuses, but this week I decided it’s time to just do it! People always take a new start on the 1st of January, but why not start now, that way you already reached something amazing to start the new year with! So no more excuses for me, I braved the cold and went to the gym!

Last week I had my final lesson of a barista course I’ve been following in coffee bar Cuperus in Antwerp. Now I’m finally able to make you the perfect cappuccino, espresso or latte!! Although I’m really going to miss visiting Antwerp every week (shopping alert!)…

Almost every week, you can find me in Mechelen, my favorite city in the world (or maybe just in Belgium…). I explored new stores and indulged in the sweetest chocolate cake! This week, I finally took a look at the second hand book store, which was a really nice surprise!

On saturday night, we put our red lipstick on, got our hair done and partied like it’s 1955! Every month, Radio Modern throws one hell of a retro party, and this was my first time. But it won’t be my last. Let’s rock ‘n roll, baby!!

See you next time!!

OOTD: Layering up!

Days are getting shorter, the weather’s getting colder, and Christmas is just around the corner. This must be my favorite time of the year!

But not only the gifts and hot cocoa’s are making me jump for joy… Finally I can wear all those chunky sweaters I’ve been buying. Comfort is my game, so I love to layer up different sweaters to create an easy outfit. Another reason why I prefer layers during fall and winter, are the overheated stores (the horror!). Think of yourself walking down the street, wearing your warmest duffle coat with a huge scarf wrapped around your neck… and then you enter a store where it’s 35 degrees (celsius, in case you’re wondering) and you start sweating like a pig! Or am I the only person who feels this way :)??

Anyway, my latest buy is this comfy sweater, which I’m wearing over an all black outfit. Because neutral colors can sometimes make your outfit a little dull, I always add bold accessories, such as this necklace from Madewell. I don’t wear a lot of high heels, but these booties are just so comfortable and easy to mix and match. Lately, I’ve been living in this outfit. So I think it’s time for some shopping again ;)

Our breakfast routine

Han: Apple cinnamon oatmeal with pecan nuts

For breakfast I need something filling so I don’t get hangry by 10 o’clock. I’ve always had a sweet tooth, so a dessertlike breakfast is totally my cup of tea.

Breakfast Han 1

Apple cinnamon oatmeal with pecan nuts is my absolute favorite way to start the day. The apples ensure the sweetness of the oatmeal without adding sugar. Add some cinnamon and pecan nuts and you get… perfection. This breakfast is ideal to eat while sitting by the crackling fire under a blanket on a cold wintery morning.

Breakfast Han 2

For extra vitamins I always start my day with some fresh fruits, here I chose a delicious pomelo! And last but not least, yes you guessed it right, tea!

Sandy: Vanilla yoghurt with muesli, blueberries and honey

Let’s skip the pleasantries. I don’t like mornings. I don’t like the sound of an alarm clock. I don’t like skipping through a dark and cold hallway in my PJ’s. And I sure as hell don’t like the freezing toilet seat waiting for me at 7 AM. But there is one thing that makes me smile every morning, and that’s breakfast.

First, I take a scoop of vanilla flavored yoghurt, which I cover with muesli. Next, I add a handful of blueberries, also known as superfruit! They contain loads of vitamins that will get you through the day. And to make it a little sweeter, I top it off with a teeny bit of honey ;)

What is your breakfast routine? We’d love to get some new ideas!

Have a great day,
Han and Sandy

Every wandering girl needs: Tea

When the temperature drops and fall/winter arrives, I need some hot drinks to keep me warm! I love a cup of coffee in the morning or as a yummy treat, but I drink tea all day, every day.

A cup of tea makes everything better.

Tea simply means ‘plant based hot flavoured water’. Doesn’t that sound perfect and healthy? Our body needs lots of water to keep our metabolism going, so if you can increase your daily water intake by drinking some delicious tea that also has other natural benefits to it, why not?

There’s tea available for everybody’s taste or for every occasion. But it might be something that you have to learn to appreciate. You can always add some sugar, honey or stevia to make your tea a little sweeter. The past few years I’ve grown to love all kinds of teas. Recently I became addicted to green tea. I absolutely love using loose leaf tea. If you’re living in Belgium I would recommend checking out “De theewinkel” in Leuven or “Simon Lévelt” in Mechelen, where you can find the best loose leaf tea and also very cute tea accessories.

Time for tea,

Han
